The excellent and renowned Madinah and Bab Summer Courses are one of the highlights of the year at The World Federation. The Islamic Education team is committed to ensuring that the courses continue to reach new heights of excellence, through the spiritual, moral, and educational development of the course participants. To help achieve this, Islamic Education appoints and trains mentors who are part of the course to help support the development of the participants.

On 5 May 2014, The World Federation and CoEJ organised a full day GCSE Religious Education exam skills course. The course was held at Hyderi Islamic Centre and was facilitated by Sister Mehjabeen Rahim, GCSE Coordinator of The World Federation’s Islamic Education Department.
The Annual course provided students who are sitting the AQA unit 8 and unit 9 exam this June with an examiner’s insight, revision tips and the opportunity to practice questions using the recommended structure.
The students were trained on how best to revise and respond to exam questions and an insight into how the papers are assessed. The students were also given the opportunity to mark some exemplar answers and this enabled them to better understand the different question types and the exact requirements for each.
The session was also an opportunity for students from various Jamaats to network and exchange thoughts on exam preparation. Students that attended the course commented:
"I learnt techniques on how to structure the answers and think there should be more than one course on this throughout the year." Ambreen Khan, Hyderi
"The course has made me feel more confident and I feel I have learnt a lot from this especially answering 6 mark questions." Fatema Datoo, Peterborough
"I enjoyed answering the questions independently and feel I know the techniques now, the most valuable skill was learning PRIDE Q.” Saiyada, Leicester

Mentoring for the Madinah and Bab Course in 2013 has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life; the opportunities to gain, learn and serve were endless. I thank the Almighty for the chance to have met so many talented and vibrant sisters from different backgrounds and communities around the world.
