“Eid is for those whose fasts have been accepted and whose salaat are worthy of reckoning, and every day when one does not commit a sin it is 'Eid" (Imam Ali [A.S.] - Nahjul Balaghah)
May we be guided by our faith in Allah and shine in His divine blessings
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the most Merciful
My Dear Community Members,
As-Salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah
All Praise is due to Allah, the Glorified and the Exalted; and peace and blessing be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) and His pure progeny (A.S.).
On this blessed day of Eid-ul Fitr, I extend heartiest felicitations to each and every member of our entire community and to wish joy, peace and prosperity with strength in Imaan.
We thank Allah (S.W.T.) for the mercy and grace He bestowed upon us to complete the holy month of Ramadhan peacefully, in good health and with elevated spirits of spiritual nourishment. May each one of us be given glad tidings of mercy and forgiveness from Allah (S.W.T.), He is Oft-Forgiving and the Most Merciful.
Imam Ali (A.S.) in a sermon delivered on the Day of Eid said: "O people! Verily this day of yours is the day when the righteous are awarded and the wretched are losers. It is a day which is similar to the one on which you shall be standing (before your Lord on the Day of Reckoning)”.
Let us all take inspiration from this quote and pledge to ourselves to seek proximity with our Lord and increase in Taqwa (God consciousness) so that our deeds qualify us to be rewarded on the Day we stand in front of Him.
As we say farewell to the blessed month of Ramadhan having offered our deepest gratitude and thanks to Allah (S.W.T.) for His countless blessings, let us reflect on the difficult times that the Muslim population and in particular the Shia Community is facing in many regions of the world.
It is matter of great concern that the Muslim world is witnessing new Theo-political movements which have been unleashed, falsely in the name of Islam, in Iraq and Syria. These movements are characterized by brutal violence against Muslims of almost all sects who do not submit to the false ideals of these movements. The ominous signs are that if these movements, un-Islamic as they are, if not confronted by all Muslims united, no Muslims anywhere else will remain unaffected.
It is more important now than ever before for us to stand firm and united against this new threat and to ensure that brotherhood among Muslims of all sects is locally maintained and we, on our part, continue to ensure peace and order at national levels in our countries in this part of the world.
I request the Jamaats leaders to fulfil their roles, such as may be practical and appropriate for maintaining the spirit of brotherhood among Muslims of other sects and also among the people of other faiths.
The issue of sectarian tension witnessed in the Middle East and Pakistan was also discussed intensively at the Forum organized by the AFED Secretariat in Dar es Salaam in May 2014 followed by a pertinent Directive approved at the 75th Supreme Council Session in the same month for implementation by the Secretariat.
The Secretariat has started working on this Directive in collaboration with the World Federation.
We also cannot forget the worsening plight of Palestinians year by year. May Allah (S.W.T.) judge between those who are oppressors and those who are oppressed and between those who are on the side of Truth and Justice and those who are not.
The economic crisis and the effect of recession is being felt by members of our Community not only in Africa but also around the world, this unfortunately has adversely affected our community, and some are unable to meet their basic needs of life which include education for children, medical, house rent etc. At this point, I wish to appeal to all community members to pay their religious dues (Khums and Zakat) through the centralized system of the Africa Federation and donate generously towards the Welfare Funds which are used to assist these less fortunate members of our Community in our Jamaats.
Alhamdulillah, this year again in partnership with the World Federation, we have raised a good sum for Ramadhan Relief Fund and disbursed in time to various Jamaats and Institutions under the Africa Federation for the needy and underprivileged families thus making the holy month of Ramadhan somewhat comfortable for them too.
I am also pleased to inform that the Africa Federation Solidarity Day, which is marked on the 15th Shab’an, the auspicious occasion of the birth celebration of Imam-e-Zamana (A.T.F.S.) every year, for the past four years, is gaining momentum and support from our community members in Africa, the collection of funds from this event is utilized for the needy members of our community from our Jamaats.
I am grateful to the generous donors and well wishers for their continuous support and donations towards these funds.
Eid ul Fitr marks the end of the month of Ramadhan. We bid farewell to the blessed month, it’s beautiful days and its fragrant nights. On this day, while we are celebrating Eid ul-Fitr let us take a moment and think of the families who have lost their loved ones or are physically afflicted and displaced due to the sectarian violence and are unable to celebrate the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast in peace at home with their families.
Let us all join hands and pray for the safely, security and peace of our brothers and sisters in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Palestine, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and in other countries. Let us also pray for the safety and sanctity of the Holy Shrines in Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia which have become targets in these recent attacks by the extremists.
Let us pray for the safety, good health and long life of our Marjah-e-Taqleed, Ayatullah Al Seyed Ali Al Hussainy Al Seestani and the Ulema. May Allah (S.W.T.) hasten reappearance of our Awaited Al-Mahdi (A.T.F.S.).
On behalf of the Africa Federation Office Bearers, Trustees and Councilors, and on my own behalf, I wish you and your families Eid Mubarak with prayers for increase in imaan and tawfiqaat.
In closing I request you to remember with Sura-e-Fateha all our marhumeen and marhuminat, especially those who were with us last Eid, and are not with us today.
